Black Pearls. Chapter 4.
The door flung wide open and, since my eyes were closed, I hoped it was merely a draft. But as the door opened, the wind was as calm as the ocean.
Breaking away from Will, I turned and blushed. Jack was staring, open-mouthed, at a scene of horror. My hands still locked it William's silky and slightly damp hair, I bit my lip and watched Jack swiftly run his hands through his hair, and then he simply stalked away, the door still ajar.
I nervously glanced at Will, sighing. He nodded, urging me to talk to him.
Untangling myself from Will, I walked out the door and felt bad that Jack had seen Will and I kissing. Most of all, I felt bad because

His whole right side was covered in a slimy coral, or some other reddish-pink underwater growth. He was unsightly, middle-aged. I cringed away from him.
"Hello," he said, in a tired voice. He acted tired. "My name's Turner." My brow furrowed in thought.
My face lit up with surprise and I turned to Will. He nodded quietly and I covered my mouth with a shaking hand.
Will grabbed my free hand and swept me up into his arms; I squealed.
"Come on," he said. "We're leaving. We'll stop somewhere else. Jack? Are you coming?" Jack was examining the appearance of Will's father.
"You smell funny," he stated. I laughed very loudly. Jack glared at the

The once tiny island grew to the size of our ship as we neared.
I reluctantly left the ship, and the jewels, in the care of Jack, to get more rum from his cabin. It really was untidy. There were maps scattered around the floor, along with chess pieces, toy soldiers, clothes, and trunks. I made my way around the piles of trash to get to a trunk labeled 'Jack's Rum.'
It would be foolish for me to drink anymore, but Jack would get even madder. Then, Will and I would stand back and watch him be idiotic as always.
I opened an unlocked trunk and found more maps and many empty rum bottles and unsigned contracts dated years ago. I opened anothera

I stood at the helm, thinking of last year and how much had changed.
An image of a tall girl popped into my head, her hair pinned up in a tight bun. She wore an intricate silk dress with bows and many ribbons. Her shoes hurt her feet and the bobby pins in her hair dug into her scalp.
Jack pulled me back into reality when his hand landed on my shoulder. I snapped around and Jack jerked his hat off my head. He put his hand on the wheel and swiftly turned it, the boat shifting. I yanked it towards me, and it re-aligned itself. I playfully pushed his shoulder.
"Hello, love," Jack said, smiling. I smiled and gave him the wheel. He couldn't trus

I smiled and ran back inside to the room closest to me. I slid the dress on and found a mirror. The violet fabric hung gracefully from my shoulders.
I slipped my converse off and gathered my dress in my hands, careful not to tear it. I walked back to Raphael.
The courtyard had transformed. The red velvet seat was gone, and flowers filled ninety percent of the space. A brick walkway led up to the platform where Raphael stood.
In the distance, I could see a pink-grey sky. Less than an hour.
I slowly ambled towards Raphael, him grinning sweetly. As I neared, he met me and escourted me the rest of the way. His emerald eyes bore into mine.

He led me through the Du Mort to an open courtyard with glossy columns and dew-covered grass. There was a raised platform with a circular room and a fabric seat in the middle.
We stopped at the entrance and Raphael turned to me.
"In the last room we passed, there is an oak wardrobe. Open it and retrieve the dress. Hurry, sunrise is coming," he said, smiling.
I ran back inside and found the last door we passed. The room number was 69. I laughed. I pushed the door open and gasped. The room was a deep blue color, white drapes covering the windows.
There was a tall, slim wardrobe in the corner, as Raphael had said. I opened it and found the m

I was glad the meeting was over. I didn't like the fact Raoul assumed we were dating...
After everyone left, we left, also. We went to the butcher's shop to retrieve more bags of blood. The moon was full and shining. We went for a walk, like we had done two nights ago.
The sun didn't come up for another four and a half hours. We could walk for two hours, twelve and one half minutes, leaving us time to reach the common room in time. Who would've thought I'd be willingly doing math?
I wiped the thoughts out of my head and turned to look at Raphael. He didn't look back, just kept walking, staring into nothing. I reached up and pulled his hair

The meeting that night was awkward. I sat beside Raphael, who sat beside a very beautiful and intimidatin girl, Priscilla.
The man that changed Raphael, Raoul, spoke to the fledgelings. I felt accomplished because I knew most of this stuff. Then he started talking a lot about demons.
"...some are more powerful than us. It'd be easy for them to kill us. We must not back down. And we must make an army," he said, smirking.
I glanced at Raphael. His eyes were open and he was staring foward, but he wasn't listening. He sensed my eyes on his and smiled, then put his arms around my shoulders.
Raoul was watching intently.

I ran into the ball room and saw the sunlight shining in. My skinn burned. It was worth it. Raphael came tearing through the room, sweeping me up in his arms and rushing me out of the room.
He threw me onto a bed and examined my burns. He said they would take days to heal. He was surprised I was alive. He asked me why I did it.
"I decided..."I started laughing."...that if you loved me you would save me. I don't know how you love me, but I know that you do."
Raphael looked at me, speechless. He sat down beside me and furrowed his brow.
"Yes," he said, smiling."I do love you. I guess I didn't do a good job at hiding it."
